Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
